The Company's Nominated Charity 2007/2008
The Master is pleased to announce that his chosen charity for this year is Combat Stress.

For over 80 years, The Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society, Combat Stress, has been the only services charity specialising in helping those of all ranks from the Armed Forces and the Merchant Navy suffering from psychological disability as a result of their services.

Through its national network of welfare officers, it visits veterans at home in order to establish how best to improve their quality of life.  Through its three treatment centres, it provides rehabilitative treatment which aims to help the victim cope with his or her disabilities and to enjoy a better quality of life.

In 2006/7 they received 996 new referrals: over the past two years this figure has grown by a staggering 27% from 783.  As their media profile continues to grow in the light of ongoing operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan, Combat Stress anticipate increasing pressure on its services for the foreseeable future.

The Master will be in touch to inform members about ways to support the work of Combat Stress.
