The Coat of Arms

Drapers' Hall

1439 Grant of Arms

The first grant of arms to the Drapers’ Company was issued by the Garter King in 1439. It is the earliest surviving grant to a corporate body in England.

It is beautifully illuminated and depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary being crowned with her triple crowns by God and Jesus, whilst shielding the souls of the Drapers under her cloak.
