Walter's Close, Southwark

The Estate
Walter’s Close was built in Brandon Street, off the Walworth Road, for the poor elderly people of Southwark in two stages in 1961 and 1971.

The Estate consists of 45 flats and bedsits, all self-contained.

The picturesque Estate offers excellent communal facilities including a Community Hall and a laundry. The properties are centred on two courtyards with well-maintained and attractive gardens. There is an active social club, organised by the residents, providing a range of activities and outings.

Eligibility
You can apply to live at Walter’s Close if you are 60 years of age or over and currently a resident of the London Borough of Southwark, or are someone with strong family ties or social reasons for wanting to move here. The Almshouse is a Charitable Trust and applicants will be asked to provide details of their financial circumstances to demonstrate their need for such accommodation.
