Introduction to our Charitable Work
Building on its centuries-long tradition of benevolence, the Drapers’ Company today actively supports carefully selected charitable causes. Much of our work concentrates on enabling young people to pursue educational qualifications, rise above social exclusion, and reach their full potential. We also focus on helping those in need or experiencing hardship through support of organisations working with the homeless, older people, disabled people and prisoners.

The Company has been restoring links with its ancient heritage through support for technical textiles and textile conservation, heritage and the arts, and projects in areas of Northern Ireland.

Grantmaking Trusts
 
The Drapers’ Company is the trustee of a number of charitable trusts. You are welcome to apply for funds from the following three:

Drapers Charitable Fund - The Company's main grant making trust 
 
Sir William Boreman’s Foundation - Supporting the education for young people in Greenwich and Lewisham
 
Thomas Howell’s Education Fund for North Wales - Supporting the education of young people in North Wales
 
Each of these trusts supports different categories of beneficiary and has its own application procedures. Please read the information carefully and contact us if you need further clarification.

Almshouses
 
The Drapers’ Company is trustee of three London-based almshouses:
 
Edmanson’s Close in Bruce Grove, Tottenham
 
Queen Elizabeth’s College and Lambard House in Greenwich High Road, Greenwich
 
Walter’s Close in Brandon Street, Southwark.
 
These are managed by Hanover Housing Association. Applications to live in one of our almshouses are welcome, but remember there is usually a waiting list. Before applying, please check if you are eligible.
